Doug Hayes
I feel blessed being born and raised in Western Montana. I have been married to the same beautiful woman for 35+ years and have two wonderful kids. Western Montana is a special place in which I have invested my life both personally and financially.
I found my real passion for real estate, finance and investment while attending school in Phoenix AZ. To make a long story short, I left school after 2 years to pursue a career in real estate. At 20 yrs old I was one of the top producing sales agents in Phoenix. I missed Montana though, and after a lot of soul searching moved back to continue with my career in real estate. In 1989, I was exposed to the mortgage industry and could see the potential growth and diversity in that field. I was offered a position with Montana Mortgage Company in what seems like just a few short years ago, and here 34 years later I am still helping people realize the dream of homeownership.
My career expanded to First Montana Bank in May of 1998. I was reluctant at first coming from a mortgage company environment. I believed that you had to get out from behind that desk and go out and hustle which ‘bankers’ didn’t seem to do. Well…that was exactly why Wayne Haines in Libby wanted me to come to work for him at First Montana Bank. I was immediately tasked with changing that atmosphere and perception across the bank.
I love the fact that we are constantly looking and adjusting to today’s market and demand of the consumer. Our technology combined with an extremely high experience level in our staff allows us to offer a tremendous variety of loan programs and options in a very proficient manner.
We are a full service bank; our primary focus has always been and will be “the customer”. I believe that in today’s economy, customers have more choices than at any other time in history. So, in turn, one of the best ways to set yourself apart from everyone else is to know and serve the customer better. Taking service to the next level and doing a little more than what may be expected.
In my off time, I escape to our summer home in Trout Creek to enjoy all of the splendors Montana has to offer. Fishing, 4 wheeling, hiking, hunting, boating and so much more. It is my little slice of paradise.
I feel that we are blessed with opportunities every day and that recognizing and taking advantage of them is one critical element of success!
